Sardaran Bibi's Story

Sardaran Bibi, a 73-year-old woman from Lahore, is experiencing short-sightedness and cloudy vision. Sardaran is unable to enjoy the golden years of her life due to her deteriorating eyesight. The joy in her life has gone now, and she struggles to see the world. She went to a nearby hospital and received a consultation from a doctor. After a thorough examination and evaluation, the doctor diagnosed her with a cataract in her left eye. A cataract is the clouding of the natural lens of the eye, resulting in diminished vision. To allow her to see the world again, the doctor recommended Phaco + IOL surgery. However, Saradran’s family can’t pay for her surgery.

Cataract is one of the leading causes of blindness in Pakistan. If Sardaran doesn’t get the surgery soon, she may experience permanent loss of vision. Sardaran’s life is filled with limitations caused by her cataract. She struggles to walk around the home and is unable to enjoy the cherished moments of her life.

Saradran lives in a small brick house with a joint family of ten members. Her two sons are factory employees and bring in PKR 42000 per month. This monthly income is insufficient to manage the living expenses of the entire family as well as the household bills. The burden of medical bills weighs heavily on the family, leaving them in a desperate situation. That’s when Sardaran decided to contact Transparent Hands and ask us for assistance.

Sardaran said with tears in her eyes:

“My vision is fading fast due to cataract, and without surgery, I’ll lose it completely. I don’t want to spend my remaining life in darkness. Please help me to see the world clearly again.”

Through cataract surgery, she will be able to see her loved ones’ smiles and perform her daily activities with new hope and determination.

Sardaran needs your help to get rid of her visual impairment. You can change her life and give her a new sense of independence and well-being. Let’s unite to support Sardaran.
