You Restored Sidra’s Eyesight

Sidra Fiaz's Story

Sidra Fiaz, a 23-year-old woman from Muzaffargarh, had faced more challenges than most people of her age. Born with hearing loss, Sidra learned to navigate a world that was silent for her. However, over the past two years, her life grew even more difficult as she began experiencing blurry and dim vision. Simple daily tasks like moving around the house or even recognizing the faces of loved ones became challenging for her. She went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After a detailed medical evaluation, the doctor diagnosed Sidra with Cataracts in both eyes.

In June 2024, Sidra underwent Phaco + IOL surgery for her left eye, with the support of Transparent Hands. The procedure brought her relief, but her right eye needed attention too. Her doctor strongly advised Phacoemulsification with Intraocular Lens (Phaco + IOL) to restore her eyesight fully and prevent further deterioration.

Sidra is part of a large household of ten members. Her father, a daily wage laborer, earns just PKR 19,000 per month. This modest income supports not only Sidra and her three sisters but also her three brothers, one of whom is studying and another who is both deaf and blind. They live in a modest house, and the overwhelming expenses of utilities, food, and daily expenses leave them with no savings for costly treatments like eye surgery. The burden of supporting such a large family weighs heavily on Sidra’s aging father, who struggles each day to ensure his children have at least the basics. During this difficult time, Sidra’s family turned to Transparent Hands for help. Understanding the nature of her situation, we quickly registered her case and arranged her surgery.

On June 4, 2025, Sidra underwent Phaco + IOL surgery for her right eye at Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Trust Hospital in Multan. Dr. Syed Hassan Raza expertly performed her procedure. It was successful, bringing light and clarity back into her world.

Sidra’s parents shared their feelings with teary eyes as follows:

Sidra’s sight has significantly improved. She can once again perform daily tasks with ease and live with greater independence.
