Zubaida Bibi Awaits Surgery for Cholelithiasis

Meet Zubaida Bibi, a 64-year-old woman from Bhakkar, who has been experiencing right upper abdomen pain and intolerance to fatty meals for ten months. She also faces intermittent episodes of nausea and vomiting. With time, her pain became intense and her condition is worse now. Due to discomfort, she struggles to carry out routine tasks. Zubaida went to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor, who conducted some lab tests and an ultrasound scan and diagnosed her with Cholelithiasis – the formation of hard mineral deposits within the gallbladder. To relieve her pain and discomfort, the doctor advised laparoscopic cholecystectomy. However, the surgical cost is out of her family’s financial reach.

She was once an active and involved mother but now her life has dramatically changed. If Zubaida doesn’t get the surgery, her health and quality of life will continue to deteriorate due to poor dietary intake and the pain.

Zubaida lives in a modest house with four family members. Her two children are studying and the third one is married. Her husband passed away a few years ago. Zubaida is surviving in extreme poverty. Her relatives and brother support her financially to meet daily living expenses. Their financial situation is stretched thin and affording to pay for the surgery is significantly challenging for them.
