Let’s Bring Light Back into Jamila Bibi’s Life
Jamila Bibi's Story
Jamila Bibi, a 59-year-old woman from Multan, is suffering from blurry vision in her left eye. This condition is affecting her quality of life. It has become challenging for her to see at night, and see obstacles while walking, significantly increasing the risk of falls for her. She was concerned about her condition and decided to receive a consultation from a doctor. After performing some lab tests, the doctor diagnosed her with a left subluxated lens. It is a condition in which a lens is partially displaced but remains within the lens space, especially in the pupillary area. To allow her to clearly see the world, the doctor advised lensectomy and scleral fixation. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is overwhelming for her family.
If Jamila’s subluxated lens is left untreated, it may result in permanent vision loss due to high eye pressure or damage to the retina.
Jamila lives in a small mud house with her six children. Her husband died a few years ago. Her son, the sole breadwinner in the family, is a farmer and brings in just PKR 40,000 per month. This income is insufficient to cover their utility bills of PKR 6000 as well as the educational fees amounting to PKR 10,000. The family is also dealing with a loan of PKR 60,000, making the needed cost of the surgery unaffordable. Jamila’s family is facing financial hardships and the significant cost of the surgery is beyond their financial reach. During this time of need, Jamila reached out to Transparent Hands and asked us for assistance.
Jamila Bibi said with teary eyes:
“My vision is fading fast due to my eye condition, and without surgery, I’ll lose it completely. I need help to see the world again. It’s been a long time since I saw my children’s faces clearly. Kindly support my surgery.”
We have registered Jamila’s case and aim to help her. We need your support to change her life. Your contributions, no matter how big or small, will make a valuable difference in her life. Let’s join hands and restore Jamila’s eyesight.

Jamila Bibi's Story
Jamila Bibi, a 59-year-old woman from Multan, was suffering from blurry and dim vision in her left eye. Activities such as preparing meals, taking care of her children or walking around her home had become increasingly difficult for her. Worried about her condition, she consulted a doctor at a local hospital. After performing a comprehensive examination, the doctor found a subluxated lens in her left eye. To enable her to see clearly, the doctor recommended lensectomy and scleral fixation. However, the cost of the surgery was out of her financial reach.
Jamila lived in a small mud house with her six children. Her son, the sole breadwinner in the family, worked as a farmer and earned just PKR 40,000 per month. The death of her husband put Jamila’s family in a difficult financial situation. Their meager household income barely covered their utility bills, educational expenses, as well as other living expenses. Jamila’s condition was worsening day by day and she was unable to enjoy the cherished moments of her old age. Her neighbors became a source of hope for her when they told her about Transparent Hands. Jamila reached out to us and asked for assistance. Moved by her plea, we registered her case.
On January 14, 2025, Jamila was admitted to Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Trust Hospital, Multan. The following day, January 15, 2025, Dr. Asif performed her surgery successfully.
After surgery, Jamila expressed her happiness as follows: “My life was filled with struggles and I was unable to live a healthy life. This surgery gave me new hope and courage. Your support has given me my life back. I am incredibly grateful for the joy you have brought into my world.”
The surgery has changed Jamila’s life significantly. Previously, her visual impairment had caused many challenges in her life. She can now spend her old age independently, without relying on others. Jamila and her family extend their deepest gratitude to you for supporting her and making a valuable impact on her life. Your generosity can never be forgotten.
