Bashira Bibi's Story

Bashira Bibi, a 51-year-old woman from Kasur, has been suffering from a lump on the front of her neck for the past two years. She initially ignored it, hoping it would go away with medicines. However, instead of improving, the lump grew larger with each passing month. She now experiences difficulty in swallowing, constant discomfort, and episodes of restlessness, and fatigue.

Her condition has worsened to the point where she can no longer eat comfortably. Worried for her well-being, she went to a hospital where a thorough medical evaluation was carried out. The doctor diagnosed Bashira with Toxic Multinodular Goiter (MNG)—a condition where multiple nodules in the thyroid gland cause excessive hormone production. Due to the size of the goiter and her increasing symptoms of thyrotoxicosis, the doctor recommended her medicines to control the symptoms first followed by Subtotal Thyroidectomy. However, her family can’t afford the surgery.

Without surgery, Bashira’s condition may deteriorate rapidly. It may lead to severe thyroid imbalance, difficulty in breathing or swallowing, and the lump may develop into cancer.

Bashira is entirely dependent on her two sons, who jointly run a small grocery store in their neighborhood. Despite their hard work, they earn around PKR 45,000 per month, which is barely enough to manage their household needs. From this modest income, they pay PKR 3000 for utility bills, and the rest is used to support the family. With rising inflation and day-to-day expenses, they are unable to save up for the high cost of their mother’s surgery. With pain in his voice, one of her sons shared:

“Our mother has always been our strength. Watching her suffer every day breaks our hearts. We are doing everything we can, but the cost of the surgery is beyond our reach. We just want her to be healthy again.”

Bashira needs your support now more than ever. Your kind donations can help her receive the much-needed surgery and restore her quality of life. Let’s stand by her and give her a chance to live a pain-free life.

Bashira Bibi's Story

Bashira Bibi, a 51-year-old woman from Kasur, had been battling with a growing health problem for the past two years. A small lump appeared on the front of her neck, which she initially ignored, assuming it would subside with medicines. Over time, she began experiencing discomfort, difficulty swallowing, episodes of restlessness, fatigue, and a constant feeling of unease. Concerned for her health, her family took her to a hospital for a detailed evaluation. After conducting necessary tests, the doctors diagnosed her with Toxic Multinodular Goiter (MNG). Due to the size of the goiter and the severity of her symptoms, the doctor advised her to start on medication to stabilize her condition, followed by a Subtotal Thyroidectomy.

However, the cost of the surgery was beyond Bashira’s means. She relies entirely on her two sons, who run a small grocery store together, earning around PKR 45,000 per month. Their limited income is already stretched thin to cover daily expenses, leaving no possibility of affording the required surgical treatment. In search of hope, Bashira turned to Transparent Hands. After reviewing her medical reports, we registered her case.

On July 2, 2025, she was admitted to Evercare Hospital in Lahore. Dr. Ahmad Fawad successfully performed the Subtotal Thyroidectomy on July 2, 2025. After receiving appropriate post-operative care, Bashira was discharged in stable condition on July 4, 2025.

With heartfelt gratitude, Bashira said: “I had been living with discomfort and fear for years. Today, I feel free from that burden. Your support came at the perfect time, and I can now eat and live without pain. I am truly thankful for your help in making this surgery possible.”

Now, Bashira is free from the discomfort that once controlled her life.

With her health restored, she can enjoy her daily activities and meals with ease, and her family is deeply grateful for your generosity. You made a valuable impact on Bashira’s life.
