Muhammad Idress's Story

Meet Muhammad Idrees, a 51-year-old man from Kasur, who had high-risk diabetes and severe infection in his right foot. He consulted a doctor who performed a comprehensive examination and decided to amputate his right leg below the knee level. This news filled his heart with anxiety and concern as he never thought that he would face a future of dependence on others. No sooner had he undergone amputation than he faced a lot of difficulties while performing daily chores. His doctor recommended a below-knee prosthesis to restore his ability to walk. However, the prosthetic leg he was using became worn out. He was advised to replace the prosthesis with a new one. Unfortunately, the cost of the prosthesis is out of his financial capacity.

Living in a small house with his wife and six children, Idrees struggles to make ends meet. He is the sole provider for the family. Idrees is an Imam at a mosque and earns just PKR 15000 per month. This income is insufficient to cover their utility bills of PKR 4000, educational fees amounting to PKR 5000, and other living expenses.

Idrees desperately needs this prosthetic leg to reclaim independence in life. His family relies upon him for living expenses and they have nowhere else to turn to. Idrees’s family is surviving in extreme poverty and affording to pay for his prosthesis is significantly challenging for them. During this time of need, filled with hope in his heart, Idrees contacted Transparent Hands and asked us for assistance.

Idrees said with teary eyes:

“Each day, I struggle with this disability that affects everything I do. I dream of relief and freedom from this burden. Your generosity can help me move forward with strength and hope. I am scared that soon I will lose my ability to provide for my family. My children rely upon me and I don’t want to see them suffering. I request you to please help me to get this artificial leg.”

Through a prosthetic leg, Idrees can have a healthy and more meaningful life. Not only will his physical capabilities be restored, but it will also liberate him from feelings of isolation and frustration.

Transparent Hands is committed to helping Idrees with a prosthesis. However, we need your support to enable Idrees to get back on his feet. We ask you to please open your hearts and donate as much as you can.

Muhammad Idress's Story

Muhammad Idress, a 51-year-old resident of Kasur, suffered from high-risk diabetes and a severe infection in his right foot. Due to his condition, he faced a life-altering challenge when he had to undergo a below-knee amputation. The news of losing his leg was devastating, filling him with anxiety and fear about his future. After the amputation, Idress struggled to perform daily activities, relying heavily on others for even basic tasks. The prosthesis he initially received eventually wore out and needed replacement. Therefore, his doctor recommended a new below-knee prosthesis to restore his mobility. Unfortunately, the cost of a new prosthesis was far beyond Idress' financial capacity.

Idress lived in a small house with his wife and six children. He was the sole provider for his family, and worked as an Imam at a mosque, earning just PKR 15,000 per month. They struggled to cover their utility bills, school fees, and other essential expenses. The financial burden left no room for him to afford the prosthetic leg that would allow him to regain his independence. During this difficult time, Idress reached out to Transparent Hands for support. Moved by his story, we registered his case and arranged for him to receive a new below-knee prosthesis.

On December 20, 2024, Idress was fitted with a below-knee prosthesis at Hope Rehabilitation Centre in Lahore. This procedure was performed under the supervision of Dr. Khalid Niaz. When Idress stood and took his first steps with his new leg, he felt a renewed sense of hope and independence.

Expressing his gratitude, Idress shared:

“Life felt like a constant struggle after my amputation, but this prosthesis has given me a second chance. I am incredibly thankful to you for making this possible. You have changed my life.”

Idress is now adapting to his new prosthesis and looks forward to resuming his daily activities without relying on others. His family is overjoyed to see him regain his confidence and mobility. His family extends deepest gratitude to you for your kind support. Idress’ life has taken a positive turn, bringing hope and stability back to his family.
