Ali Raza's Story

Meet Ali Raza, a 12-year-old boy from Jacobabad, who has been suffering from a missing testicle since birth. His parents took him to a nearby hospital and received a consultation from a doctor. After performing an ultrasound scan and some lab tests, the doctor diagnosed him with an undescended left testicle – a condition where one testicle fails to descend into the scrotum. His doctor recommended orchidopexy, a surgical procedure to position an undescended testicle into the scrotum. However, the cost of the surgery is beyond his family’s financial means.

Without surgery, Ali’s undescended testicle may remain in a location that can damage it, leading to lower testosterone levels and reduced sperm health, which may increase the likelihood of infertility or testicular cancer later in life.

Ali lives in a modest house with his parents and three younger siblings. His father, the sole breadwinner in the family, works as a daily wage laborer and earns just PKR 15000 per month. They are surviving in extreme poverty and due to their financial constraints, neither Ali nor his siblings go to school to study. With an insufficient monthly income, managing the expenses of six family members, utility bills as well as groceries is a significant challenge for Ali’s father. The cost of the surgery is overwhelming and they can’t pay for it. During this time of need, Ali’s family decided to reach out to Transparent Hands. They contacted us for help. Ali’s parents said in despair:

On November 18, 2024, Ali was admitted to the Isra University Welfare Hospital in Hyderabad. On November 19, 2024, Dr. Abdul Samad successfully performed the procedure, giving Ali hope and relief. Ali was discharged in stable condition after receiving appropriate post-operative care.
