Secure Amna’s Future with Cardiac Surgery
Amna Sakhawat's Story
Amna Sakhawat, a 13-year-old girl from Sialkot, has faced a heart disease since birth. Her daily life is filled with challenges. Simple activities like walking or playing cause severe shortness of breath and discomfort in her chest. Her skin often turns bluish when she engages in mild physical activity, a sign of low oxygen levels in her body.
Her parents became increasingly concerned about her worsening symptoms and recently took her to a cardiologist for a follow-up evaluation. After undergoing several diagnostic tests, Amna was diagnosed with a complex combination of congenital heart conditions: Unbalanced Common Atrioventricular Canal (CAVC), Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA), Pulmonary Stenosis (PS), and Univentricular Heart (UVH). The doctor has advised her to undergo open-heart surgery—specifically, a CP (Cavopulmonary) Shunt—to stabilize her condition and improve her oxygenation.
Without surgical intervention, Amna’s condition may lead to increased cyanosis, worsening heart failure, and a severely compromised quality of life. It may eventually become life-threatening if left untreated.
Amna lives in a rented house in Sialkot with her parents and three siblings. Her father works as a daily wage laborer and earns just PKR 30,000 per month. After covering their house rent of PKR 13,000, utility bills of PKR 5,000, and educational expenses of PKR 2,000, there is little left to save for any medical procedure. Affording the high cost of her open-heart surgery is impossible for them under these financial constraints. Amna’s parents described their emotions as follows:
“Watching Amna struggle to breathe is heartbreaking for us. We’ve done everything we can, but the cost of this surgery is far beyond our reach. Please help us save her life.”
Let’s join hands to ensure Amna receives the life-saving surgery. Your contributions can give her a chance to breathe easily and live actively. Every donation matters in bringing hope to Amna and her family.
